Karipidis Estate is a family owned winery, which is situated in Vounaina in Thessaly, in Central Greece and manages 300 hectares of privately owned vineyard. In 1908, the Karipidis family was settled in Vounaina, Krannonosin Thessaly and its members’ interest for viticulture was direct. More than a century later, the family’s relation to wine and vinification is still strong and is getting better and more honest.
Nowadays, Pantelis Karipidis and his family carry on the tradition with great effort, but above all with love, and they produce wines that stand out not only for their quality but also for the experiences they give in every glass.
Pantelis Karipidis was the first one who overturned the dominating theory, according to which, lowlands Larissa are not the suitable ground for viticultivation, unlike Rapsani and Tyrnavos. However, Pantelis Karipidis always considered that potential vine plots could be found anywhere if you search well and he was, finally, proved to be right as his route, dating bakc to 1981, demonstrates. The brand name of the company travels everywhere and the passport is the excellent quality of an impressive winemaking process. The winery is located in Vounaina, in the municipality of Ancient Kranona, close to Larissa. Karipidis family owns 300 acre vineyard situated at an altitude ranging between 200 and 320 meters and planted with Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Primitivo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. In the future, they intend to invest on 2 Greek varieties, Agiorgitiko and Malagousia.
