Dios Baco OXFORD 1970 Pedro Ximénez Sherry Rated 92 WE “With a colour akin to motor oil, this lush Dios Baco OXFORD 1970 Pedro Ximénez Sherry smells of golden and black raisins, caramel and kumquat. In terms of feel, it’s unctuous up front, but ideally balanced on the back palate. Caramel, raisin and brown sugar flavors finish long, sticky and complex. It’s hard not to love this.” Michael Schachner WE Dios Baco initially focused on dry wines, and their sweet wines are a more recent development. They also have a P.X. V.O.S. that is over 20 years old, but the difference in age is supposedly not that big, with the Oxford 1970 being just below 20 years. Nose: thick and intense, full of raisins and dried prunes. Some chocolate and Spanish pan de higos. Hints of coffee and sticky toffee. There’s also a slightly pungent top note, in between alcohol tingle and lemon. Palate: very smooth and velvety, almost buttery. A dense, classic mixture of prunes, figs and cocoa. Belgian pear syrup. It shows the same kind of lemon note but it’s almost completely overrun by sticky sweetness of currants and cooked prunes . A slightly pinch of pepper in the finish. Lovely…. Lovely served with strong cheeses and fantastic with deserts and chocolate.  You’ll never want to put the bottle away. It comes in a long, straight bottle of 750ml. Alcohol 17%
