The wine then matures 24 months in French and Slavonian oak casks and an additional 12 months in bottle before release. The result is a complex and elegant Barbaresco displaying aromas of wild berries, black cherry, and licorice, with hints of vanilla and spice from its time in wood. On the palate, it’s austere yet warm, showing firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, fresh finish. Built for 20–30 years of ageing, it should be served around 18°C in large glasses to reveal its full expression.
La Ganghija Barbaresco 2018
Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, the La Ganghija Barbaresco 2018 is a wine of immense structure, depth, and longevity. The grapes are sourced from the prized “Giacosa,” “Bricco di Treiso,” and “Giacone” vineyards in Piedmont — regions renowned for their white clay and calcareous soils, which lend both minerality and finesse to the wine. The vines average 45 years of age, yielding fruit of exceptional concentration and balance.
After a hand harvest between late September and mid-October, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks for two weeks at 27–30°C, followed by a 40–50 day maceration for color and tannin development. The wine then matures 24 months in French and Slavonian oak casks and an additional 12 months in bottle before release.
